Auburn Police arrested a man Saturday, June 21, on multiple domestic violence-related charges after locating him at a homeless encampment with the assistance of a drone, police said.
Officers contacted a victim who reported a violent domestic violence assault that had occurred two days earlier at an encampment in Auburn.
Based on the victim’s statements, physical evidence and documented injuries, officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for second-degree domestic violence assault, felony harassment-domestic violence and domestic violence unlawful imprisonment, according to police.
Later that afternoon, officers used a drone to locate the suspect at an encampment in Auburn and took him into custody without incident.
During a search incident to the arrest, officers located a small quantity of suspected fentanyl that later tested positive, police said.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail on the domestic violence-related charges. The case has been forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
Police said a domestic violence advocate assisted the victim in obtaining emergency resources and safe housing.
The Auburn Police Department encouraged anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help and report incidents to law enforcement. Police said victims should call 911 in an emergency or contact local domestic violence advocacy organizations for support and resources.
