VIDEO: Auburn Police use drone to locate, arrest DV suspect hiding on rooftop

Auburn Police arrested a man on Sunday, Nov. 30 after a drone located him hiding on the roof of a nearby home following a domestic disturbance in southeast Auburn, according to the department.

Police were called to the 1500 block of 29th Street SE (map below) on Sunday after a caller reported a male was breaking items inside a residence and had grabbed a knife, the Auburn Police Department said.

When officers arrived, they learned the individual had damaged property before fleeing on foot.

Police established probable cause for domestic violence malicious mischief in the third degree, as well as exposing a minor to domestic violence, according to the department.

K9 teams began tracking the suspect. To assist, an officer deployed an Unmanned Aircraft System. The department said the drone located the man on the roof of a nearby home.

Officers gave verbal commands, and the suspect complied, jumping down off the roof before he was taken into custody without incident.

“A job well done by everyone involved,” police said.
