Auburn Police arrested a domestic violence suspect July 3 after the department’s Automated License Plate Reader camera system helped officers locate the vehicle he was driving, according to the department.
Police said the suspect was wanted on a $50,000 Auburn Municipal Court warrant related to a domestic violence investigation, as well as a separate Department of Corrections warrant.
Earlier that morning, the suspect had fled from officers with the Seattle Police Department during a separate incident. Auburn officers were made aware of that information while actively searching for the suspect, according to the department.
At about 8:24 a.m., the suspect’s vehicle was detected traveling through Auburn by the department’s Automated License Plate Reader camera system. Officers responded to the area, located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Auburn Way North and Fourth Street Northeast.
According to police, officers used patrol vehicles to contain the suspect’s vehicle in an effort to prevent another attempt to flee and reduce the need for a vehicle pursuit. The suspect complied with officers’ commands and was taken into custody without incident.
After the arrest, Auburn officers confirmed there was also probable cause from the Seattle Police Department to arrest the suspect for attempting to elude a police vehicle in connection with the earlier incident that morning, according to the Auburn Police Department.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail on the outstanding warrants and the additional probable cause charge.
“A job well done from everyone involved,” police said.
