VRFA BLOTTER: crews respond to brush & house fires, cardiac arrest, medical emergencies

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Aug. 17 – 23, 2026:

• Brush Fire (Auburn): On Monday, August 17th, VRFA firefighters responded to reports of an unknown fire behind an apartment complex. Crews arrived to find bushes, grass, and garbage burning and used wildland hose and hand tools to extinguish the fire.
• Residential Fire (Auburn): On Tuesday, August 18th, VRFA firefighters responded to reports of smoke and flames coming from the exterior of a residence after occupants noticed an electrical burning odor. Crews arrived to find a fire in the crawl space and quickly extinguished it, preventing further spread. Two occupants were displaced as a result of the fire. The cause remains under investigation by the VRFA Fire Marshal’s Office.
• Brush Fire (Auburn): On Wednesday, August 19th, VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire near Highway 18. Crews arrived to find a brush fire approximately 25 feet by 25 feet. Firefighters extinguished the fire and thoroughly overhauled the area to ensure it was fully contained and extinguished.
• Aid Call (Auburn): On Thursday, August 20th, VRFA firefighters responded to an adult patient experiencing cardiac arrest at a local grocery store. Bystanders immediately began CPR before firefighters arrived and continued lifesaving efforts with King County Medic One paramedics. The patient regained a pulse and was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
• Aid Call (Auburn): On Friday, August 21st, VRFA firefighters responded to Fred Meyer for an adult patient experiencing a medical emergency. Firefighters evaluated the patient and requested King County Medic One paramedics due to an altered mental status. The patient was transported by King County Medic One to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
• Residential Fire (Auburn): On Saturday, August 22nd, VRFA firefighters responded to a second alarm residential fire involving a fully engulfed home. Crews completed multiple fire attacks and overhaul assignments to bring the fire under control. Firefighters remained on scene throughout the remainder of the shift, rotating crews to provide fire watch and monitor for potential hot spots.
• Brush Fire (Auburn): On Sunday, August 23rd, VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire near the old Segale gravel pit. Crews arrived to find a pile of approximately 12 large, downed trees on fire with no nearby exposures or rapid spread. Firefighters extinguished the fire and pulled apart the logs to locate and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
