A man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies arrested him following a brief pursuit of a stolen truck and horse trailer on Highway 18 in Auburn, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Southeast Precinct responded just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 14 to a report of a stolen truck and trailer with a horse still inside, KCSO said.
Police said a deputy located the vehicle and pursued it on Highway 18. During the pursuit, the driver attempted to bypass traffic by changing lanes, causing the trailer to go airborne at one point.
The pursuit lasted less than one minute before deputies arrested the suspect, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged the suspect with multiple felony counts, including theft of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude, second degree animal cruelty and hit and run. The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial in July.
The horse was not injured during the incident, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
