The City of Auburn will honor those who served in the armed forces with its 60th annual Veterans Parade and Observance on Saturday, Nov. 8, beginning at 11 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Auburn.
According to the City of Auburn, the parade is one of the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi River and will begin with a flyover by a UH-1H “Huey” helicopter known as Guardian2, supported by the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Spectators can expect to see antique military vehicles, honor guards, ROTC units, military and veteran marching groups, drill teams, community and scouting organizations, motorcycle clubs, antique car clubs and more than 15 marching bands.
Event organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, bring folding chairs and flags, and prepare for an emotional and patriotic morning. Food vendors will be located along South Division Street, and local media personalities Steve Soliz and Natalie Fahmy of KOMO 4 will emcee from the corner of Main and Division. Mark Christopher from the Seattle Radio Group will also provide live commentary from Main and B Street NE.
The city reminds attendees to avoid parking in local business lots and to be courteous when parking in surrounding neighborhoods.
Additional details, including parade maps, street closures, detour routes, and food and lodging options, are available on the City of Auburn’s website.
The parade route runs west on Main Street from E Street SE to A Street NW:
