Audrie Funai Myers Hayes

Audrie Faye Funai was born in January 1943 in the Japanese American internment camp at Tule Lake, California. She spent her childhood in Auburn, where her family operated the Funai Strawberry Farm. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1961 before attending Western Washington University.
Throughout her career in administrative support and human resources, Audrie wore many hats before retiring from the United States Postal Service in 2006. Of them all, none was more meaningful than being Grandma to Colby, a role she cherished for the past 17 years.
Ever embracing the role of helper, Audrie found joy in caring for family members and friends in need. Her kindness was not limited to people; we are grateful to have inherited our love of cats from her. Beautiful inside and out, she could easily see the beauty in others but struggled to see it in herself. We share this as a reminder of the importance of giving yourself grace, treating yourself with kindness, and loving yourself unconditionally.
Audrie passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 83. She is reunited in heaven with her oldest daughter, Lisa Myers, and leaves behind her younger daughter, Dana Myers Roberge; son-in-law, Rich Roberge; granddaughter, Colby Roberge; sister, Shirlee Yoda; nephew, Todd Yoda; and an extended family of cousins and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
We will honor her request not to hold a memorial service.
