A man accused of slashing the tires of a random vehicle outside a Harbor Freight store on July 6, 2025 was arrested the following day by Auburn Police after a brief standoff and the discovery of multiple active warrants.
According to police, the initial call involved a report of tire slashing, with witnesses also alleging the suspect had been waving a knife. Officers were unable to confirm the knife allegation during their investigation.
The victim followed the suspect along nearby railroad tracks to a vacant, boarded-up residence in the 300 block of A Street SE. Officers surrounded the home and attempted to contact the man for more than an hour, but he refused to come out.
“Because the initial incident did not meet the threshold of a violent crime, our officers made the decision to disengage and attempt to locate the individual at a later time,” the department said in a statement.
Later that evening, the case escalated when investigators confirmed the suspect had violated an active no-contact order, making it a felony offense. Officers also determined he had multiple active domestic violence-related warrants.
On July 7, officers executed a plan to safely apprehend the man. When he exited the home, officers moved in and arrested him without incident. He was booked into the Regional Justice Center (RJC) on felony charges.
“A job well done by everyone involved,” Auburn Police noted in their report.
