Auburn Police arrested five suspects during a retail theft emphasis at Fred Meyer on Aug. 5, police said.
Detectives and officers from the department’s Special Investigations Unit, General Investigations Unit, Community Response Team, School Resource Officers and K9 Unit participated in the operation.
Police said the goal was to proactively identify and arrest shoplifters who affect local businesses and contribute to higher costs for the community.
The five suspects were booked into SCORE Jail on charges including theft, criminal trespass and drug-related offenses.
“The Auburn Police Department welcomes everyone to our community,” the department said. “But if you believe paying for your items is optional, your next stop may be the SCORE Jail.”
