The Auburn Police Department is encouraging residents to celebrate Independence Day safely by attending professional fireworks displays instead of setting off their own fireworks.
In a 4th of July safety reminder, the department urged families to leave fireworks to trained professionals and enjoy one of the many public fireworks shows taking place throughout the region.
Police said that fireworks that “go up or blow up” are illegal within the city.
Police also reminded residents that fireworks that are legal in Auburn may only be discharged between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. on the 4th of July.
The department encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, be considerate of their neighbors and enjoy a safe holiday.
