A driver suffered only minor injuries on Friday, Mar. 21, 2025 after their vehicle left the roadway and careened approximately 200 feet down an embankment along eastbound SR 18 near 304th Street, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Trooper Rick Johnson, a public information officer for the WSP, shared a photo and details of the crash on social media, emphasizing that the driver had been traveling far too fast for the rainy conditions at the time.
“It’s raining, the roads are wet, SLOW DOWN!!!” Johnson posted on X, formerly Twitter.
The crash occurred amid ongoing rainfall in the South King County area, which has contributed to slick roadways throughout the region.
Officials said the driver was fortunate to walk away with only minor injuries given the severity of the crash and the steep drop from the roadway.
No other vehicles were involved.
The Washington State Patrol continues to urge drivers to reduce speed and use extra caution in wet weather.
