VRFA Blotter: Shooting, man stuck in bathroom, accidents & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Dec. 16–Dec. 22, 2024:

  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm: (Lea Hill) On Monday, December 16th at 8:01 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm activation in a single-family residence. Upon arrival, residents informed the responding crew that the alarm had been triggered by a vehicle running in a closed garage. Firefighters conducted air monitoring throughout the home and found no detectable levels of carbon monoxide remaining.
  • Shooting: (Auburn) On Tuesday, December 17th at 9:40 p.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to reports of multiple gunshots with at least one injured person. On scene, personnel treated one critical patient with life-threatening injuries. The patient was stabilized and transported to Harborview Medical Center by King County Medic One.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Wednesday, December 18th at 5:47 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a female patient experiencing a diabetic emergency. Firefighters found the patient in stable condition but in need of further interventions at a hospital. The patient was transported to a local hospital by Tri-Med Ambulance, accompanied by her mother.
  • Service Call: (Auburn) On Thursday, December 19th at 4:35 p.m., VRFA firefighters were called to assist an adult male stuck in a coffee shop bathroom due to a malfunctioning lock. Firefighters used a wedge to relieve pressure on the locking mechanism, allowing the man to unlock the door from the inside. The coffee shop manager placed the bathroom out of service.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Thursday, December 19th at 6:31 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, and one occupant reported back pain. The patient was stabilized on scene and transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further treatment.
  • Aid Call: (Pacific) On Thursday, December 20th at 10:15 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of an unconscious and unresponsive child. Upon arrival, firefighters found the child with a pulse. The family had been performing lifesaving measures via instruction from the ValleyComm Call Receiver while waiting for the firefighter to arrive. VRFA personnel, along with King County Medic One paramedics, stabilized the child on scene, and King County Medic One transported the patient to Seattle Children’s Hospital for further care.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Saturday, December 21st at 2:50 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a high-speed collision involving two vehicles. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the patients on scene. One patient was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for continued care.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, December 22nd at 2:20 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an elderly male possibly experiencing a stroke. His family noticed he was unable to express his thoughts while watching a football game. Firefighters evaluated the patient, who was then transported to a local hospital by private ambulance.
