Auburn opens cooling centers as hot weather arrives

The City of Auburn has opened two cooling centers to provide relief for residents during a period of hot weather, according to Auburn Emergency Management.

Here’s what’s open:

Ray of Hope Resource Center:

  • Dates: June 14 – 16, 2026
  • Check In: 9:00 PM
  • Check Out: 7:00 AM
  • Location: 2806 Auburn Way N
  • Call 253-334-4860 for more information.

Senior Activity Center:

  • Dates: June 15 and 16, 2026
  • Time: 8:00AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Location: 808 Ninth Street SE
  • Call 253-931-3016 for more information.

The cooling centers are intended to provide a safe, air conditioned space for community members during the warm weather period.

Residents are encouraged to be aware of available cooling resources and check on vulnerable family members, neighbors and friends during periods of extreme heat.
