The Auburn Police Department will join regional partners on Friday, June 5 for National Gun Violence Awareness Day by hosting a free handgun lockbox giveaway in Auburn.
The giveaway will take place from 4–5:30 p.m. at Auburn City Hall (map below).
This event is being organized in partnership with the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility and the City of Auburn as part of the sixth annual Gun Lockbox Giveaway.
Brief remarks will be given at the start of the event, followed by the distribution of free handgun lockboxes while supplies last, police said.
The event is intended to promote safe firearm storage and raise awareness about gun violence prevention efforts in the region.
