The City of Auburn, in collaboration with the Auburn School District, will host a series of neighborhood meetings starting in October to discuss community safety and explore solutions to public safety concerns in the coming months.
The initiative, known as “Safe Auburn: Community Conversations,” will begin in October and feature meetings across Auburn’s six policing districts. The goal is to engage residents in discussions on safety issues impacting their neighborhoods and identify potential solutions.
Mayor Nancy Backus, along with Auburn School District Superintendent Alan Spicciati, city council members, and other city and school district staff, will attend the meetings to listen to community feedback.
The meetings, scheduled to run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will also include a Saturday session at Auburn High School for residents who are unable to attend during the week. Attendees are encouraged to check their addresses to identify which district meeting to attend, though all residents are welcome at any session.
The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Evergreen Heights Elementary School, followed by additional sessions at schools across the city. Each meeting is scheduled to last from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with the Saturday session on Oct. 12 running from 2 to 4 p.m.
Residents can RSVP for the meetings online, and refreshments will be provided. The series will continue beyond the initial October schedule as the city builds upon the feedback gathered to develop long-term strategies for improving public safety.
