VRFA Blotter: Garbage can fire, skateboarder struck by car, fall from roof & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Dec. 2–Dec. 8, 2024:

  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Monday, December 2nd, at 3:38 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female experiencing a seizure. Her family noted the symptoms were unusual for her medical history. The patient was transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Tuesday, December 3rd, at 5:37 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a man in his 50s experiencing dementia and delusional thoughts. After the responding firefighters provided calming measures and evaluation, he was safely transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for treatment.
  • Garbage Can Fire: (Auburn) On Wednesday, December 4th, at 5:49 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a garbage can fire in front of a Rite Aid store. Upon arrival, they found a fully involved garbage can positioned against the building under an overhang. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire with a water extinguisher, ensuring no fire extension into the building. Auburn Police were on scene and searched the area for cause and origin.
  • Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Thursday, December 5th, at 11:55 p.m., VRFA firefighters assisted an adult female complaining of a possible broken arm. The patient was evaluated and treated on the scene and then transported by private ambulance to Valley Medical Center for further care.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Friday, December 6th, at 12:45 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male complaining of knee pain after being struck by a car while skateboarding across a busy road. The patient was assessed on scene and transported to a local hospital by a VRFA aid car.
  • Aid Medic: (Auburn) On Saturday, December 7th, at 3:17 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female experiencing shortness of breath. They found the patient with severely low blood pressure and requested assistance from King County Medic One. Firefighters stabilized the patient until paramedics arrived, who provided further care before transporting her to a local hospital with firefighter assistance.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, December 8th, at 4:39 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a male in his 60s who fell from a second-story roof onto a first-story roof. The patient sustained minor injuries, which firefighters treated before he was transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation.
