VIDEO: Quick police action leads to arrest of teen after Auburn Sounder shooting

A 15-year-old suspect was arrested following a shooting near the Sounder Transit Center in Auburn on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, thanks to the quick actions of a nearby police officer.

As we previously reported, at approximately 2:33 p.m., Auburn Police Officer Moreno was parked in the 100 block of 3rd Street SW when he heard gunfire coming from the nearby transit hub.

Moments later, he saw a male subject fleeing the area with a firearm in hand.

According to police, Officer Moreno immediately pursued the suspect and, after a brief foot chase, safely took the teen into custody (see body cam video below).

“A job well done by Officer Moreno for his swift response and dedication to keeping our community safe!” the department said in a statement.

Details about the shooting, including any injuries or motive, have not yet been released. The case remains under investigation.
