Auburn Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a 2024 drive-by shooting that injured two women near Isaac Evans Park, an incident that shocked the community and was widely shared after gunshots rang out during a nearby youth baseball game.
The suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, and faces multiple charges, including several counts of first-degree assault, drive-by shooting, and unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree.
The shooting occurred on May 19, 2024, near the park along the Green River. The violence disrupted a baseball game across the river, where players and families were seen scrambling for cover after gunshots were heard — a moment that was captured on video and spread quickly online:
“This arrest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of law enforcement,” Auburn Police said in a statement. They offered a “big shoutout” to the Everett Police Department, crediting its Violent Crimes and Street Crimes Units for their assistance.
While the suspect is now in custody, Auburn Police say the case remains under investigation.
