King County prosecutors have filed first-degree murder and attempted first-degree robbery charges against 18-year-old Zaire H.M. Orr, alleging he was involved in a deadly shooting during an attempted marijuana robbery in Auburn on Feb. 4, 2025.

According to charging documents, the suspect and two juvenile accomplices lured McKinley Williams, 18, and a 17-year-old to an apartment complex parking lot under the guise of a marijuana sale. Prosecutors say the meeting quickly turned into an armed robbery, and Williams was shot in the side of the head as he and the 17-year-old attempted to escape in their vehicle.

The 17-year-old, who was unharmed, immediately called 911 and tried to provide aid to Williams, but sadly he succumbed to his injuries and died the following day.

“The defendant is accused of killing a teenager over a small amount of marijuana,” Senior Deputy Prosecutor Aubony G. Burns wrote in the court filing. Documents also claim that this was a planned and premeditated attack, set up at a public location, and the victim was executed while attempting to flee.

Orr was arrested March 14, 2025 at a residence in Burien, and is being held on $3 million bail due to concerns about flight risk and public safety. Prosecutors noted he has ties to West Virginia and other states where he could potentially flee.

Murder Charges for Second Teen Suspect

In a separate filing, a 16-year-old is also charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree robbery. Prosecutors allege that suspect was armed with a pistol during the crime and actively participated in the setup. He faces similar penalties if convicted.
