Late Wednesday night, Oct. 9, 2024, Kent Police officers arrested a 26-year-old Auburn man who was wanted on a felony warrant for third-degree rape.
The arrest took place at an apartment on South 258th Street following a tip from a neighboring agency. The suspect had a $100,000 warrant issued by the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Peterson, who received the tip, requested backup from K9 Handler Tudor and his K9 partner, Frank, in case the suspect attempted to flee.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the suspect and requested he exit the apartment. The man complied and was taken into custody without incident.
Had the suspect refused to cooperate, police would have likely established containment around the residence and collaborated with the King County Sheriff’s Office to secure a search warrant. This process, while time-consuming, is crucial for ensuring the safe removal of dangerous individuals from the community. Fortunately, no such measures were necessary, and the suspect was booked into the King County Jail.
“Nice work Officer Peterson, K9 Handler Tudor, and K9 Frank. We wouldn’t have tried to run from you either,” the department remarked on social media, recognizing the quick and peaceful resolution to the situation.
“Do you have a Kent warrant and want to avoid discussing it with Frank?” police added. “Call the Kent Municipal Court and they can walk you through what to do: 253-856-5730 ext. 8.”
