UPDATE: Both directions of SR 167 were closed again Monday, Dec. 15, between South 212th Street in Kent and 15th Street NW in Auburn due to rising floodwater from the Green River, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said.
This came just hours after southbound SR 167 was reopened, and the updated closure expands earlier restrictions as flood conditions have worsened.
WSDOT said multiple on ramps and off ramps also remain closed along the 6-mile stretch of highway.
Closed ramps include the South 212th Street on ramp to southbound SR 167, the 84th Avenue South and Central Avenue North on ramp to southbound SR 167, the SR 516 on ramp to southbound SR 167, the SR 18 on ramp to northbound SR 167, the 15th Street NW on ramp to northbound SR 167, and the South 277th Street on ramp to northbound SR 167.
As of Monday morning, floodwater remained across the northbound lanes near South 269th Street in Kent, according to WSDOT. Officials said there is potential for floodwater to cross into the southbound lanes as conditions continue to change.
There is no estimated time to reopen lanes or ramps along this section of SR 167. WSDOT said crews are monitoring conditions closely with local, county and federal partners and are standing by to respond as conditions allow.
Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes, allow extra travel time and expect delays along Interstate 5 and other northbound routes while the closure remains in place.
Real-time travel information is available via the WSDOT mobile app, the WSDOT travel map or by signing up for WSDOT’s email updates.
