Public Health – Seattle & King County closed a food establishment in Auburn on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026 after inspectors identified an excessive number of critical food safety violations, according to the agency’s website.
The restaurant, Happy Crab, located at 22 A Street SW in Auburn, was shut down at 3 p.m. due to violations that included inadequate handwashing facilities, improper food storage practices and unsafe temperature control for foods, Public Health reported.
Public Health – Seattle & King County said inspectors found improper storage of raw foods that could lead to cross contamination, room temperature storage of food that must be refrigerated for safety and improper hot and cold holding temperatures.
Officials also cited improper procedures for cooling cooked food quickly and inadequate documentation of parasite destruction procedures for raw fish products.
Additional violations included inadequate consumer advisories for raw or undercooked menu items, chemical cleaners that were not properly labeled and changes to equipment, layout and menu without prior approval, according to Public Health.
The agency noted that establishments may be closed for reasons such as food code violations or failure to follow permitting processes, and closure information will remain posted online for at least seven days after a facility reopens.
According to the agency’s website:
“Public Health lists the reason(s) the establishment was closed. Reasons for closing an establishment may be due to food code violations and failure to follow the permitting process. Depending on the type of closure, additional information may include the date the facility was shut down, whether the establishment has reopened, the date it reopened, and additional notes.
“Information for restaurants closed by Public Health will remain online for a minimum of 7 days after the establishment is reopened.”
