Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Jan. 13–Jan. 19, 2024:
- Aid Call: (Auburn) On Monday, January 13th at 3:43 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female reportedly involved in a carjacking, who sustained a possible head injury. The patient was evaluated by firefighters and then transported home by Auburn Police Department.
- Aid Call: (Pacific) On Tuesday, January 14th at 4:19 p.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to an adult male experiencing weakness. The patient evaluation determined that the symptoms were related to a cardiac issue. The patient was transported by paramedics to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
- Garbage Fire: (Auburn) On Wednesday, January 15th at 7:37 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a pile of garbage burning in the road. The fire had started in the back of a garbage truck and was dumped by the driver to protect the vehicle. Firefighters extinguished the fire using water and foam.
- Aid Call: (Auburn) On Thursday, January 16th at 12:45 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female with multiple injuries from a fall. Firefighters treated the patient on scene, and she was transported to Auburn Medical Center for further care.
- CPR: (Algona) On Friday, January 17th at 12:26 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female initially reported as having a seizure. The call escalated to a CPR response upon arrival. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics provided critical care, successfully reviving the patient. She was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by King County Medic One.
- Passenger Vehicle Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, January 18th at 11:03 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a car fire along Auburn Way South. They found a mid-sized sedan fully engulfed in flames and extinguished it with a single pre-connected hose. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
- Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Saturday, January 18th at 10:20 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a collision between a southbound Amtrak train and a semi-truck. The semi became stuck on railroad tracks while backing out of a dead-end street. The driver exited the cab just before the train, traveling at approximately 70 mph, struck the truck. The impact scattered debris across 150 yards, with the semi’s engine pushed 94 feet from the cab. The driver and all 157 train passengers were uninjured. Firefighters ensured the scene was safe for further investigation.
- Minor Fire: (Pacific) On Sunday, January 19th at 12:50 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a minor fire already extinguished by the homeowner. They found a malfunctioning hoverboard that had overheated and caused smoke in the residence. Firefighters removed the hoverboard and ventilated the home.
- Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, January 19th at 3:54 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an elderly female injured in a fall. The patient was treated on scene for a possible leg fracture and transported to a local hospital for further care.
