A fire that started just after midnight Monday, June 30, 2025 in a trailer next to All Saints Lutheran Church in Auburn spread to the main building, severely damaging the sanctuary and collapsing part of the roof.
Crews were initially dispatched to reports of a trailer fire. When firefighters arrived, they found the trailer fully engulfed in flames, and the fire spreading into the attic of the adjacent church building.
“They made an aggressive interior attack there to try and stop it from spreading into the north half of the building,” a fire official said in an on-scene interview with KING5 News.
Despite their efforts, the roof collapsed within 15 minutes of their arrival, forcing crews to withdraw from the interior due to safety concerns. Multiple ladder trucks were brought in, and crews remained on scene for several hours.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The trailer, which was connected to the church’s water supply, is considered the point of origin. The King County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating.
Neighbors said the church is a well-used and valued part of the Auburn community.
“I’m hoping that they can get it all repaired up soon,” a nearby resident told KING 5 News. “It does seem like it gets a lot of use by the community.”
Though the church declined an on-camera interview, the president of the congregation told KING 5 that worship services will continue and emphasized that “the church is about the people, not the building.”
Later that day, a small group of about a dozen people gathered outside the damaged structure to pray.
