Victim identified in fatal SR 167 freeway shooting; WSP seeking witnesses

Washington State Patrol detectives are asking for the public’s help after a driver was found shot and killed in a vehicle on northbound State Route 167 near Ellingson Road on Thursday night, June 26, 2025.

The victim has been identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as Breiner Andres Castro Jaramillo, a 22-year-old man from Auburn.

According to coroners, Castro Jaramillo died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide that occurred on June 26 on northbound SR 167 near milepost 12 in Auburn.

As we previously reported, Troopers responded around 7:25 p.m. Thursday, June 26 after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots and seeing a silver Toyota Prius crash into the inside barrier before veering across lanes to the right shoulder.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the Prius, had multiple gunshot wounds and sadly was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told troopers they saw a silver Scion or Subaru sedan to the left of the Prius and a red SUV to the right at the time they heard the shots, but they did not see any gunfire.

WSP Seeking Info, Dashcam Footage

WSP detectives are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact Detective Todd Early at Todd.Early@wsp.wa.gov or Detective John Ford at John.Ford@wsp.wa.gov.
