Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from July 8–July 14, 2024:
- Aid Call: (Auburn) On Monday, July 8th at 12:25 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded with Boeing Fire to assist an employee suffering from heat-related illness. The patient was evaluated by King County Medic One Paramedics and then transported by Boeing Fire to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
- CPR: (Auburn) On Tuesday, July 9th at 4:00 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of CPR in progress. An adult male had collapsed, and a family member began life-saving efforts before firefighters arrived. Firefighters and King County Medic One Paramedics took over, and the patient regained a pulse. He was then transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by paramedics.
- Brush Fire: (Pacific) On Tuesday, July 9th at 7:59 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an outdoor smoke investigation near the White River. They found light gray smoke over a large area and located a potential source. Despite attempts to access the site from both sides of the river, they were unsuccessful. Pacific Police Department used a drone to identify a 30×30 smoldering grass and log fire at the river’s edge, likely caused by an unattended homeless campfire. Due to access issues, firefighters left the fire to smolder and verified extinguishment the next day.
- Wildland/Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Wednesday, July 10th at 12:59 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a fire in heavy brush near SE 296th Place and SE 299th Place. Upon arrival, they found a 20’x20′ area with active flames spreading south. Firefighters quickly worked to contain the fire before it could threaten any structures. Crews then conducted mop-up operations and ongoing surveillance to ensure the fire did not reignite.
- Battery Fire: (Auburn) On Thursday, July 11th at 2:12 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a possible lithium-ion battery fire. Upon arrival, they found a semi-trailer loaded with a pallet of smoking batteries that had previously caught fire. Firefighters cooled the batteries with a handline and assisted workers in their safe removal.
- Commercial Fire: (Pacific) On Thursday, July 11th at 8:38 p.m., VRFA firefighters were dispatched to a fire on the exterior of a commercial building. Upon arrival, they upgraded the call to a working fire response due to the significant smoke inside the building. VRFA firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, limiting most of the damage to one wall of the structure.
- Wildland Fire: (Auburn) On Friday, July 12th at 12:26 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a reported fire near Game Farm Park and the Stuck River. They arrived to find a fast-moving brush fire, initially measuring 50′ x 50′. VRFA units, assisted by multiple regional fire agencies, worked quickly to contain the blaze. One civilian sustained a minor injury before the fire department arrived and was transported to a local hospital. The fire was contained to approximately one acre and did not threaten any homes. Firefighters performed wildland/urban interface firefighting tactics to ensure the fire would not reignite.
- Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, July 13th at 2:27 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire with potential exposures. Upon arrival, they found a 20’x20′ brush fire with no exposures. A single fire engine quickly extinguished the flames using a forestry hose and hand tools.
- Residential Fire: (Pacific) On Saturday, July 13th at 1:22 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a report of a car on fire inside an attached garage. The family discovered the fire when their power went out while watching TV. Unable to open the garage door, they contained the fire within the garage. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, limiting damage to the garage area.
- Motor Vehicle Accident: (Lea Hill) On Sunday, July 14th, at 12:01 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident in an apartment complex parking lot. Upon arrival, firefighters found a vehicle that had collided with a parked car. They treated two patients’ injuries before transporting them to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by private ambulance for further evaluation.
