VRFA Blotter: Bark fire, car fire, cardiac arrest, stroke, birth of baby boy & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Aug. 5–Aug. 11, 2024:

  • Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Monday, August 5th, at 2:53 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a rapidly spreading brush fire. The crew provided water from the attack engine and worked with other crews to extinguish the fire, digging out hot spots to ensure it was completely contained and extinguished.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: On Tuesday, August 6th, at 4:01 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a two-car accident on the on-ramp to Northbound SR 167 from 15th St NW. Crews evaluated two patients. One was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance as a precaution with minor injuries.
  • Bark Fire: (Lea Hill) On Wednesday, August 7th, at 5:08 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a bark fire. They arrived to find a smoldering patch of beauty bark about one foot in diameter. The crew applied water and dug out the area to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
  • Aid Call: (Lea Hill) On Thursday, August 8th, at 10:14 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female who suffered cardiac arrest. The patient was treated by firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics on the scene and then transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by King County Medic One.
  • Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Friday, August 9th, at 7:25 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an elderly male suffering from a stroke. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics evaluated and treated the patient, determining that he met CVA protocol, which required rapid transport to the emergency room. King County Medic One paramedics transported the patient to Valley Medical Center for further treatment and care.
  • Car Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, August 10th, at 7:40 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Northbound SR 167. They arrived to find that passersby had mostly extinguished the engine compartment fire using their extinguishers. Firefighters further cooled the engine to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and then handed the scene over to WSP.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, August 11th, at 11:34 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded with King County Medic One paramedics to an adult female giving birth. Firefighters successfully delivered a healthy baby boy. Both mother and baby were transported by King County Medic One to Valley Medical Center.
