The department’s Tactical Patrol Unit was conducting emphasis patrols near the park when cameras detected the vehicle traveling south on I Street Northeast at about 3:17 p.m., according to police.

Officers located the vehicle after it entered Brannan Park and conducted what the department described as a high risk traffic stop, taking both suspects into custody.

Major Crimes Unit detectives had previously provided patrol officers with information establishing probable cause to arrest the two robbery suspects, police said. The vehicle was then entered into the department’s automated license plate reader system.
