WSP Press Release, Washington State PatrolThe Washington State Patrol Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit will unveil its newest Homeward Bound Trucks – a program to assist in the recovery of missing children – at the Kennewick Police Department Headquarters on Thursday, February 4th, the eighteenth anniversary of the disappearance of Sofia Juarez.

In partnership with Kam-Way Transportation, the new trucks will display Sofia’s missing poster including an estimation of her current appearance (attached) in an attempt to increase exposure to her case. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 1 in 6 children are recovered due to the public viewing of a photo and both the Washington State Patrol and the Kennewick Police Department are hopeful these giant rolling billboards will help us find Sofia.

Just 4 years old when she attempted to follow a family member to the store on foot, young Sofia was never seen again. The Kennewick Police Department has mounted a years-long search, following every lead and amassing a case file that exceeds 20,000 pages.

The Kennewick Police Department would like to re-interview people who lived in the East 15th Ave. area of Kennewick bordered by S. Washington Street and S Cedar Street. Sofia will be celebrating her 23rd birthday next week and KPD and WSP consider finding the now young woman, a continuing priority. We do not give up on cold cases and we will not give up on Sofia. Please contact Special Investigator Al Wehner at (509) 582-1331 if you have any information that could assist the investigation.
