The City of Auburn recently announced the cancellation of many summer events, including the city’s July 4th Parade and festival. Though sad, many were holding out hope that Emerald Downs would still hold their annual July 3rd Fireworks Spectacular. Sadly that hope has been dashed.
The 2020 July 3rd Fireworks Spectacular will not be held.
“The time frame for large-scale gatherings simply doesn’t work for July 3,” said Emerald Downs Director of Media Relations Vince Bruun. “It’s unfortunate because it’s a terrific show and one of our biggest annual events.”
The Washington Horse Racing Commission recently approved a 44-day season for Emerald Downs. Racing will begin, without spectators, Monday, June 22. The season was originally scheduled to begin on April 18.
Initially, racing will be conducted every Monday and Tuesday. Spectators will hopefully be able to return at some point during the 44-day season.
