Celebrate National Poetry Month this Thursday at Auburn’s Postmark Center for the Arts

The City of Auburn will be holding a special event this April, with its 2024-2026 Poet Laureate Mateo Acuna, including ‘Poems from the Poets‘ this Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Postmark Center for the Arts.

Come over this Thursday evening to celebrate poetry with Auburn’s past and present Poets Laureate.

Poems from the Poet Laureate chapbook will be read at the event, and copies of the chapbook will be given to attendees.

Auburn’s past Poets Laureate include:

  • James Rodgers (2021 – 2023)
  • Susan Landgraf (2018-2020)
  • Marjorie Rommel (2015-2017)
  • Richard (Dick) Brugger (2012 – 2014)

There will also be a panel discussion with the current Poet Laureate Mateo Acuña, along with former Poets Laureate.

Attendees can bring their questions for discussion.

Abby Murray, former Poet Laureate of Tacoma, will emcee the event and moderate the panel discussion.

“We hope you can join us to celebrate National Poetry Month and our wonderful Poets Laureate.”

This art program is coordinated through the City of Auburn, Parks, Arts & Recreation Department with the support of the Auburn Arts Commission.
