VRFA Blotter: Heart attack, large building fire, head injury, vehicle fire & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from April 7–13, 2025:

  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Monday, April 7th at 10:48 p.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to an elderly male experiencing chest pain. Firefighters forced entry into the apartment to reach the patient. He was evaluated and found to be having a heart attack, then transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by KC Medic One for treatment.
  • Commercial Fire: (Auburn) On Tuesday, April 8th at 4:30 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire near 15th Street NW. Crews initially staged due to law enforcement activity but quickly moved in once the area was secure. The fire involved a large commercial building with access challenges and partial structural collapse. Firefighters worked aggressively to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing damage to nearby businesses. Multiple alarms were required, drawing support from surrounding agencies. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Wednesday, April 9th at 2:16 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to Green River College for a 39-year-old male found with a head injury. The patient was alert but confused and unsure how he was injured. Firefighters assessed the patient, treated the wound, and transferred care to Tri-Med for transport to Valley Medical Center.
  • Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Thursday, April 10th at 7:40 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an elderly female needing a lift assist. The patient was uninjured and declined transport, but her daughter, who is the primary caregiver, expressed feeling overwhelmed due to frequent falls. The patient was referred to the CARES Team for follow-up.
  • Vehicle Fire: (Auburn) On Friday, April 11th at 4:15 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a fully involved passenger vehicle fire on Highway 167. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and completed overhaul. The vehicle was left with Washington State Patrol to wait for a tow.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, April 13th at 3:57 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male who injured his back while lifting his leg. Firefighters evaluated the patient, and he was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance.
