VRFA Blotter: Classic car burns, rollover collision, brush fire & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from July 29–Aug. 4, 2024:

  • Motor Vehicle Collision: (Auburn) On Monday, July 29th, at 4:24 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a three-vehicle collision on westbound Highway 18. Upon arrival, they found the vehicles blocking one lane. One driver, suffering from neck and back pain, was treated and transported to Multicare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation.
  • Passenger Vehicle Fire: (Auburn) On Tuesday, July 30th, at 3:16 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a vehicle fire. They arrived to find a classic station wagon with the passenger and engine compartments fully involved. Firefighters used a combination of water and foam to extinguish the fire safely.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Wednesday, July 31st, at 3:19 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male experiencing weakness and leg pain. Family members attempted to take him to a doctor’s appointment but couldn’t move him. Firefighters cared for and examined the patient before he was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance.
  • Rollover Motor Vehicle Collision: (Auburn) On Thursday, August 1st, at 3:12 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a report of a single vehicle rolled over in a ditch. Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle had rolled several times and ended up on its tires off the side of the road. The driver had already exited the vehicle on his own and refused treatment by fire personnel. The vehicle was secured, and the scene was left with Auburn Police.
  • Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, August 3rd, at 7:58 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a brush fire on Auburn Way S at the SR 18 westbound offramp. They arrived to find a 50×50 area of grass that had burned and was smoldering. Firefighters overhauled the area and applied water to extinguish the fire. There was no damage to any property. The cause of the fire is unknown.
  • Minor Fire: (Auburn) On Sunday, August 4th, at 10:24 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a fire in a kitchen hood fan. Upon arrival, crews found light smoke from a residence’s roof vent and began investigating. A crew quickly entered the structure and found the fire had extended to a cabinet above the stove and was smoldering. The crew used a water can to cool hotspots and checked for extension into the ceiling above. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
