OBITUARY: Otto Bossert, beloved husband and world traveler, passes at 94

Otto Bossert
June 12, 1930 – February 20, 2025

Otto Bossert was born in Hoffnungstal, Bessarabia, Romania and was the oldest of 5 children. During WWll, he and his family were forced to leave their farm and they eventually came to Germany. There, he trained to become a machinist, a career that would take him across the ocean to Canada and then to the USA.

His partner in this adventure was his wife, Luise, who he met at a New Year’s dance before leaving Germany. They were married two years later in Kamloops, BC, Canada, where some of Otto’s family were living. Together, the two travelled the world, enjoyed horse racing, dancing with Mr. and Mrs. Des Moines dance club, and spending time with family and friends everywhere. He had a life well lived.

Although Otto will be very much missed, we will remember his happiness at seeing family and friends, his caring for others, his love of animals and his enthusiasm for life – “Enjoy it!”. He is survived by his wife, Luise, and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be Sunday, Mar. 16

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2 – 3:30 p.m. at Merrill Gardens in Auburn. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Auburn YMCA to support their programs for children.
