A motorcycle accident caused West Valley Highway to be shut down on Monday April 1st. The 911 call reporting the accident was received just before 7:30pm. Units from VRFA (Engine 38 (Pacific Sta. 38), Aid 32 (South Auburn Sta. 32), Battalion 31), King County Medics (Medic 8), Algona Police and Auburn Police were dispatched.
The accident involved a single motorcycle and occurred just north of 15th street SW. APD Public Information Officer Commander Steve Stocker stated that the driver was “Male in twenties driving reckless on motorcycle…lost control and crashed.”
Preliminary investigation results indicate speed was likely a factor. It appears the driver lost control of his motorcycle, hit a curb and crashed into a pole. At this time Commander Stocker is “not sure if [the driver was] impaired.”
According to VRFA Public Information Officer Kimberly Terhune, on-scene assessment by the medics indicate he had multi-system trauma (multiple traumatic injuries),” and that they were “serious, possible life-threatening injuries.” The driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center via King County Medic 8.
