Investigation into Auburn Shop Employee’s Fatal Shooting Continues

Auburn Police are still investigating an armed robbery that left one dead and another injured. Officers, Valley Regional Fire Authority and King County Medics responded to shooting at A & H Motor Sports (3502 C St NE) just after 9:40pm Tuesday, March 31st.

Two people pulled into the parking lot of the shop. “One suspect entered the business with a handgun,” said Auburn Police Commander Mike Hirman. A “Hispanic male, 5-8, [in his] 20’s, wearing dark clothing.”

The male displayed a gun to the two employees inside the store, demanding money. He was denied the money, then allegedly shot the employee in the chest and pistol-whipped the shop manager in the head. The suspect fled the shop, leaving in the waiting vehicle.

A post on VRFA’s Facebook shared that “units performed CPR for nearly an hour, but were unsuccessful in their attempt to revive the deceased patient.” The shop manager was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The King County Medical Examiner has confirmed the identity of the victim as Gregory Deckman (56).

Detectives have obtained a photo of a female they believe is involved with the homicide and are looking for help identifying her.

Hirman confirmed that both Auburn Police and King County Sheriff’s Office stopped several vehicles believed to be associated with this incident directly after the incident. No vehicles stopped were confirmed to be in connection with this incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
