VRFA Blotter: Tree on a wire, vehicle fires, accidents, carbon monoxide alarm & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Mar. 17–Mar. 23, 2025:

  • Tree on a Wire: (Auburn) On Monday, March 17th at 7:52 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a report of a tree leaning into a powerline. Firefighters arrived at a wooded area along a busy road and found a small tree in contact with the line, charring and producing a small amount of smoke. Crews marked the area with scene tape and notified Puget Sound Energy for removal.
  • Vehicle Fire: (Auburn) On Tuesday, March 18th at 10:43 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a fully involved 38-foot motorhome fire in a driveway near a single-family home. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire in the front of the vehicle but no immediate threat to the house. All occupants were safely outside. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, limiting further damage. A fire investigator responded, and two occupants received assistance from the American Red Cross.
  • Pedestrian: (Pacific) On Wednesday, March 19th at 8:09 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male struck by a car mirror while walking along the road. Firefighters treated the patient on scene before being transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by private ambulance.
  • Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Thursday, March 20th at 9:13 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an elderly female experiencing weakness and confusion. Firefighters provided treatment before being transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by private ambulance for further care.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Friday, March 21st at 5:07 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a four-vehicle accident on West Valley Highway S at Mountain View Dr. Firefighters arrived to find minor to moderate damage and one driver reporting injuries. The patient was treated on scene and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident with Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, March 22nd at 7:37 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident blocking all eastbound lanes of SR 18, with one vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the fire and evaluated the occupants, who sustained minor injuries. No one required hospital transport.
  • CO Alarm: (Lakeland Hills) On Sunday, March 23rd at 3:32 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a residential carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters detected dangerously high CO levels and requested a HazMat team for assistance. South King Fire and Rescue HazMat Technicians assisted with air monitoring and ventilation. The source was identified as a pressure washer operating outside the home. The structure was fully ventilated, and CO levels were returned to normal.
