Valley Communication Center’s Connie Tolson has been recognized with the Washington APCO-NENA Telecommunicator Award for Sustained Superior Performance.

The nomination application submitted by a Com Room Supervisors read:

“As do all 911 Centers, we have expectations that each employee will function as an intricate member of the team. Due to the immediate demand for information from call receivers to dispatchers, as well as field units, there can be challenges with employees working through sustained call volumes and priority incidents in a cooperative manner. Connie has the talent and personality that bridges this gap; she is incredibly tolerant and supportive in her relationships and does not base her assistance on classification of employee. She uses her natural skills and 20 years of experience to think ahead, anticipating questions from dispatchers and field units to provide relevant information without being asked. She recognizes and often seems to instinctively sense when a co-worker needs a hand and she’s right there to help with a phone call, conduct research of past incidents, or provide a gentle suggestion to a less-experienced person. Throughout the shift and regardless of the pace, Connie is timely and complete as a team player.”

Connie has been a part of the Valley Com team for 20 years. She has served as a 911 call receiver and Certified Training Officer. “Her dedication to the profession and training department is greatly appreciated. This prestigious award is well deserved,” shared the announcement.
