A fatal crash on SR 18 near the Green River Bridge left one man dead and two others injured Wednesday night, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
The collision occurred around 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025 in the westbound lanes of SR 18 (map below).
Troopers said that two vehicles were traveling westbound when one lost control, spun, and came to a stop facing the wrong way in the lane. A second vehicle struck it, pushing both vehicles into barriers.
WSP said the driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. He had not been wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the second vehicle, along with a passenger, were transported to Auburn Medical Center with injuries. Both had been wearing seatbelts.
The roadway was blocked for nearly four hours while troopers investigated and crews cleared the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but WSP said that drugs or alcohol were not suspected.
