Man shot at New Year’s Eve party after suspect fires rounds into the air

Auburn Police are reporting that at around 10:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, they responded to reports of a shooting in the 29000 Block 55th Place S. (map below)

  • When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
  • After investigating, police learned that the suspect was firing rounds into the air outside at a party when the victim confronted him and told him to stop.
  • The suspect stopped, but a confrontation ensued between the two inside the residence, resulting in the suspect shooting the victim.
  • The victim was conscious and alert when police arrived and was transported to a local hospital.
  • A second victim was also grazed by a bullet but refused medical attention on scene.
