Elderly man shot in attempted robbery in Auburn Wednesday night; suspects at large

An elderly man was shot during an attempted robbery in Auburn on Wednesday night, Nov. 6, 2924, leaving him in serious condition and prompting an active search for two suspects.

The Auburn Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of M Street NE (map below) just before 9 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found the male victim with at least one gunshot wound.

According to preliminary investigations, two suspects dressed in black approached the man as he was heading to his car. Police believe the suspects attempted to rob him, which led to an altercation and the subsequent shooting.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he is reported to be in serious condition.

Meanwhile, the suspects fled the scene on foot, and a K9 unit was tracking them as detectives continue their investigation.
