The Almost 5K Poker Fun Run & Walk took place on Friday night, Aug. 11, 2023 at Les Gove Park, offering participants an enjoyable evening of physical activity and friendly poker style fun.

While some may have hoped to draw a winning hand, lady luck was not on everyone’s side.

The event – which combined the excitement of a poker game with the thrill of a 5K run or walk – attracted a diverse group of participants. From avid runners to casual walkers, individuals of all fitness levels came together to take part in this unique event.

The Almost 5K Poker Fun Run & Walk is an easy run around the big loop at Les Gove Park. Five loops around is “almost” a 5K (short of a 5K by 1,138 feet). For each lap around the loop, participants can stop, choose a card, and try to get the best poker hand with the five cards drawn.

Although not everyone was able to secure a winning hand, the atmosphere remained lively and spirited throughout the evening. Participants embraced the challenge and enjoyed the camaraderie that comes with such events.

Whether participants were seasoned runners or simply looking for a fun way to spend their Friday night, the Almost 5K Poker Fun Run & Walk provided an opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy a memorable experience.
