Auburn Police arrested a man suspected of third degree rape of a child and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes Sept. 30 after officers located his vehicle and coordinated an operation supported by the department’s new Skydio drone.
Detectives had developed probable cause to arrest the man before the Tactical Patrol Unit located his vehicle that morning, according to police.
“The suspect was safely taken into custody without incident,” the department said.
Detectives coordinated surveillance while Tactical Patrol Unit officers planned the arrest. The drone supported the operation as it unfolded (see video below), police said.
The department credited cooperation among detectives, patrol officers and the drone technology for the arrest.
