VRFA Blotter: Brush fire, CPRs, collisions, leg stuck in playground equipment & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Aug. 4–Aug. 10, 2025:

  • Brush Fire (Auburn): On Monday, August 4th at 12:30 a.m., VRFA firefighters were dispatched to Highway 18 at C St. SW for a brush fire. They arrived to find a quarter-acre fire moving quickly through tall, dry grass. Crews deployed brush hoses and multiple units worked together to extinguish the flames. The cause was undetermined.
  • Aid Call (Auburn): On Monday, August 4th at 11:22 a.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to an adult male who collapsed in his garage. Crews performed CPR, and the patient regained a pulse before being transported to a local hospital by King County Medic One.
  • Aid Call (Auburn): On Wednesday, August 6th at 2:12 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female in cardiac arrest. Firefighters, along with King County Medic One paramedics, performed CPR and administered IV treatment on scene, stabilizing the patient. She was transported in critical condition to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for advanced care.
  • Motor Vehicle Collision (Auburn): – On Wednesday, August 6th at 9:33 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision with minor injuries. Upon arrival, all occupants were out of the vehicles, with one patient reporting a minor wrist injury. The patient was transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn): On Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at 3:25 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an ill adult male. Firefighters evaluated and treated the patient on scene before he was transported by private ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
  • Service Call: (Auburn): On Friday, August 8th, at 7:59 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a service call involving a child whose leg was stuck in playground equipment. Firefighters assisted the child in freeing his leg without causing any damage to the equipment.
  • Aid Call (Auburn): On Saturday, August 10th, at 12:08 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male having a seizure. Upon arrival, the patient was still postictal and had a wound under his eye from a fall during the seizure. Firefighters provided care, and the patient was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by private ambulance.
  • Vehicle Fire (Auburn): On Sunday, August 10th, at 7:37 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a single-vehicle accident with fire reported from the engine compartment. Upon arrival, firefighters found a vehicle off the roadway, having struck a utility pole, with heavy fire extending to an abandoned utility pole. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and confirmed all occupants were out of the vehicle. The driver was uninjured and had lost control while trying to avoid deer crossing the road.
