With Independence Day fast approaching, the Auburn Police Department is reminding residents that fireworks are only legal in the city on July 4 between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. — and anything that “goes up or blows up” remains illegal.

In a light-hearted social media post featuring Officers Claire and DeRoche “channeling a little Joe Dirt energy,” the department issued a firm yet humorous reminder to follow the city’s fireworks laws and to avoid calling 911 for non-emergencies.

“Unless it’s an emergency, call our non-emergency line: 253-288-2121,” the department posted.

Auburn Police emphasized safety and community consideration while maintaining a sense of humor with the public as the holiday nears.
