The City of Auburn is seeking artists or artist teams from Washington and Oregon to create an integrated public artwork for its forthcoming Downtown Park, a new public green space that will serve as a central feature of the city’s Creative District.
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 10:59 p.m., with a total project budget not to exceed $97,500, inclusive of design, fabrication, installation, travel, and taxes.
The selected artist(s) will collaborate with the city’s plaza design team to create a site-specific art element that reflects Auburn’s identity and enhances the visitor experience at the 10,500-square-foot park, which will be located on East Main Street, adjacent to the Postmark Center for the Arts and the planned Auburn Theater.
“This project is an opportunity to create an artwork that not only beautifies the space but becomes a meaningful part of Auburn’s cultural landscape,” the city stated in its announcement. “We are looking for artists who want to help shape the character and spirit of the new Downtown Park.”
The city emphasizes the importance of community-centered design that inspires creativity, fosters connection, and reinforces the area’s growing reputation as a hub for the arts.
The finalist artist or team will be notified on June 13, after which the final design phase will begin.
Eligible applicants must reside in Washington or Oregon, and all applications must be submitted online.
