Auburn Police investigating shooting that injured 2 at Isaac Evans Park Sunday night

Two people were injured in a shooting near Isaac Evans Park on Sunday evening, May 19, 2024, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 8:15 p.m.

Investigators believe two groups were involved in an altercation that escalated to gunfire. The involved parties then fled the scene in separate vehicles.

One vehicle crashed a short distance away, and the occupants abandoned it and fled on foot. A K-9 unit was deployed to track the suspects, but they were not located.

Two women sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting. One victim was found near the scene, while another arrived at a local hospital later.

Baseball Game Interrupted

In nearby Brennan Park, a baseball game was being played, and after 30 or so gunshots are heard, players and their families could be seen running for cover:
