VRFA Blotter: fatal shooting, gas leak, overdose, vehicle fire & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Nov. 27–Dec. 3, 2023:

Vehicle Fire: (Auburn) On Monday, November 27th, at 12:33 p.m., firefighters responded to a commercial box truck fire at a trucking facility. Firefighters made access to the truck and extinguished a mattress fire. The truck was unoccupied at the time. The fire is currently under investigation.

Aid Call: (Algona) On Monday, November 27th, at 9:44 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a possible stroke. Upon arrival VRFA Firefighters quickly determined the patient was suffering from septic shock with a dangerously high fever, high heart rate, low blood pressure, and was unresponsive. They requested King County Paramedics and cooled the patient with ice packs. Medics transported the patient to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

Vehicle Collision: (Auburn) On Tuesday, November 28th at 5:46 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car vehicle collision. Four patients were evaluated on scene, and one was transported by family to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further treatment.

Shooting: (Auburn) On Tuesday, November 28th, at 4:20 p.m., firefighters and King County Medic One Paramedics responded to reports of a shooting. Firefighters arrived to find an adult male who had suffered a gunshot wound and Auburn Police Officers administering CPR. Firefighters and Paramedics took over patient care, including CPR and Advanced Life Support measures provided by the Paramedics. The patient ultimately succumbed to his injury and was declared deceased on the scene.

Gas Leak: (Lea Hill) On Wednesday, November 29th, at 9:47 a.m., firefighters responded to the report of a natural gas leak inside a residential home. Firefighters arrived to find a small amount of gas still in the home after the stove top burner was secured in the off position. Firefighters provided air monitoring after ventilating the home. The residents could return inside safely and were contacted by Puget Sound Energy as a precaution.

Aid Call: (Auburn) On Thursday, November 30th, at 1:02 p.m., firefighters responded to an adult male with injuries from an assault. Firefighters treated the patient for injuries to his leg after an assault before transporting him to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Overdose: (Auburn) On Friday, December 1 at 5:25 p.m., firefighters were called to assist an unconscious adult male in a grocery parking lot. Firefighters arrived with Auburn Police and administered Narcan to an apparent overdose. The patient soon became conscious, refused further care, and left the scene.

Aid Call: (Pacific) On Saturday, December 2, at 12:55 p.m., firefighters responded to an unresponsive adult male. The patient was found by a bystander, who then called 911. The VRFA firefighters and King County Paramedics treated the patient at the scene and transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for additional treatment.

Vehicle Fire: (Pacific) On Sunday, December 3rd at 6:54 p.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on northbound SR167. Firefighters arrived to find an SUV fully involved with fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene to the Washington State Patrol.
