See Ya Later Washington held their annual Team Trivia Challenge last Wednesday, March 27th. 101 people made up 14 teams to compete for a good cause: funding scholarships for Auburn students.
Six scholarships will be awarded to Auburn students. Each scholarship will be $1,5000. During Wednesday’s event, the dessert dash alone raised enough for a single scholarship ($1,568). The application deadline is April 16th.
During the event James Halford, a 2018 scholarship recipient, addressed attendees. He expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the scholarship he received, who have supported See Ya Later, and to the See Ya Later organization. Halford is enrolled in the Green River College Aviation Program. He intends to become a commercial airline pilot, hoping to fly with Alaska or United Airlines.
Attendees had the opportunity to win items from raffle drawing. $1,270 was raised from raffle ticket purchases alone.
Triviamaster Gregg Dobbs closed out the night by announcing the final scores. Breaking their two year losing streak with a score of 74, the Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce team Menace to Sobriety came out on top as the winner. The losing team, Wine Not, had an impressive score of 14.
The total amount raised was $6,762. See Ya Later Washington has awarded $36,000 in scholarship dollars and helped 77 Washington families.
Several attendees stepped up to sponsor parts of the upcoming See Ya Later Golf Tournament. Edward Jones-Gregg Dobbs will be the lunch sponsor. Painting with a Twist will be sponsor the very important bar cart. And Curry and Williams is the dinner sponsor.
