The City of Auburn and the Auburn Arts Commission are presenting the work of William Hanley at the Cheryl Sallee Gallery, on view May 8 – July 10, 2024.
Born in Seattle, Hanley currently resides in Richland, WA. Prior to his cross-country move from North Carolina in 2022, he worked as an Electronic Resources Management Specialist for Duke University Libraries for over 15 years. He is now a professional nature photographer who emphasizes connections between positive mental health, nature, and art.
“As someone who practices meditation in nature, I am always on the lookout for new places that inspire contemplation,” William Hanley said. :One of my muses is the reflection I find on rippled water. I find the abstract shapes, curved lines, and colors fascinating. I’ve learned that when people think of the reflective surface of water in a photograph, they often think of a still lake or pond, perhaps near a grand landscape. But when I concentrate on the rippled surface of a body of water, I see art that often goes unnoticed.”
This art installation is coordinated through the City of Auburn, Parks, Arts & Recreation Department and with the support of the Auburn Arts Commission.
